Standard, plastic, padded, reinforced, and desktop are some of the different types of folding chairs. Standard folding chairs are durable and economical. They are made of steel and are available in different colors. Plastic folding chairs have similar design as that of standard chairs and are made of polypropylene plastic. They are temperature neutral, more lightweight, and not strong as metal chairs. Padded types have vinyl-upholstered seats and are available in different colors. Reinforced form has an extra rear-leg brace for frequent use. Desktop folding chairs are ideal for limited spaces such as classrooms and small halls that conduct seminars. As it has foldable tablet arms, it is used as makeshift desks.
Lounge chairs are designed for - what else? Lounging, of course. The backs may be designed to recline, and they often have an extended seat to allow the legs to be lifted and supported comfortably. The chaise lounge is a typical lounge chair.
In the past, a chair was just that - a place where you would rest your aching back. Designs were straightforward and simple and you would be foolish to expect anything more from chairs. These days, however, chairs have become art in themselves. Some pieces are so cleverly made that they look like objects of art but double up as comfortable chairs too.
Rococo: The most decorated type of historical chair is a Rococo chair, which has two C-shaped knots, appearing interlaced just like a ribbon or a bow. This came into existence with the beginning of the 18th Century. One modification of this chair is a ladder-back chair which is prominently used today.
